I am unemployed, too, with a Master's degree. This is a horrible economy. I had even left my Master's degree out on several applications and was told I am over-qualified. Then, I am under-qualified because I do not have my counseling license. Then, I get a temp job and someone's brakes fail and they rear-end me injuring my neck, leg, and jaw. So, I understand the physical duress and the mental stress as well. Hang in there.

Thanks so much for commenting. I never thought that it will be this hard to get a job once I got my master's. I thought it was going to open doors for me. I have went to staffing agencies and they all told me different things within that time frame. Which confuses me. I did take the counseling license one time and failed it. And of course, I don't have the money to retake it. And no one won't hire me. I am so sorry about your neck, leg, and jaw. You also hang in there.

Hi Deanna. I did not see your response until now. Thanks for your support. Yeah, I was injured while driving. A person's brakes failed and he rear-ended me while I was waiting at a yield sign. I had a job lined up after waiting for over a year. So, ugh, I was very upset. Now, I am trying to get stronger physically, so I can resume working. It was easier to get a job while working on your Master's, almost 20 years ago. I know because I worked with these professionals. That is what motivated me to pursue it. When I graduated, I found out the hard way that you need your license to find a job. I am sorry about the exam. I know that some companies will hire you as a LAC, if you pass it. I had the purple study guide but lost it after I was in a near-fatal MVA in December of 2016. I was studying for it. Now, it is the last thing on my mind. Now, I am hoping my body gets stronger and I can find a job. If you ever need to chat offline, I am here. I can empathize with your situation and I know how frustrated you must be. I also have bills due which are going to be late, which I am not happy about. Anyway, I wish you the best of luck with your pursuits. Don't give up! I am sure you have a lot to offer :)

Thanks. Riley. I appreciate you for responding back. It is very tough out here trying to find a job. I just am trying to get in somewhere, any where. And no one seems to want to give me a break. Either am overqualified or don't have the exact experience for what they are looking for. But I have the experience. I am with the VR now. And i have been for a little over a year. And they don't seem to help much. So, I really don't contact them anymore. Because they seem to not want to help me. Especially when they are taking all the credit for me getting interviews. Companies are just starting to call me again for interviews. But am so tired of going on interviews. It is exhausted. I am really sorry about the job you had. I had that happen to me where I was driving home from my internship. And someone hit and ran me. I have not given up hope or faith. I wish you the best of luck also. And definitely try to get stronger. I will be praying for you also. I look at it as we are all in this together. "The struggle, the fight. And it is so good to be in a group like this, where there are other individuals who is going through the same thing I am. My family, and peers are great. But they honestly don't understand what I have been going through this past 3 years.

The National Guard is honestly a really great way to help get a job! Not only with a masters would you be shoe in as an Officer but when applying for jobs you can get veterans preference! This is huge in the job market today!! In addition to this the National Guard can pay up to $50,000 of your student loan debt. You would be committed to a 6 year contract. During this time you would train for one weekend a month and 2 weeks out of the summer. Add it up and thats 38 days a year. This is a consistant job leaving no employment gaps in your job history! The national guard also has full time positions under ADOS,FTNGDOS, or AGR orders. These are jobs applied for but with a masters degree as a 2nd LT you would be a big fish in a little pond with lots of room to grow. Health insurance for your whole family is less $210. Individual is less than $60. Retirement, life insurance, savings plan, etc.... Great deal.

In essence, we are taught that the more degrees, certifications etc. (formal education) one has, the financially secure one will eventually be. How’s that working for you all?

Essentially, from a young age, we’re taught to give our power, our sovereignty away to another person or entity...go to school; get good grades to get a good job.

If that was such great advice, why is it that those without all of that formal education, that they’re making more money than those with say, a Doctorate and over time, their business / cash flow doesn’t even depend on them even showing up for work? Some have reached that point in their 20’s or 30’s because they didn’t take financial advice from say, their broke or work a lot or layed-off parents.

The income model that you all are in requires that you either work else, in essence, you’ll starve &/or worse. The sad part is that most of you have taught the next generation to do the same knowing it didn’t work for you and crossing your fingers that it’ll be better for them.

How’s that working? Can they quit? Will they be able to maintain their financial livelihood if they are out of work for health reasons or employer-imposed reasons? How old will they be when they can retire and truly enjoy the lifestyle of a dictionary-defined retiree or will they work until they can’t or work after so-called retired? What bill of goods were they sold? Same as you?

If you want a different result, you must do something different. Paradigm shift is where you have to begin. Understanding how REAL money is truly made, kept and grown would be your other lessons to learn.

Once learned, you’ll NEVER AGAIN want to teach others to do what got you to that point that you’re currently at and you’ll want to get off that train and jump onto a totally different track.

The old way is mentally exhausting and stressful whereas the alternative is liberating and you can smell/taste FREEDOM!!!

That is so true itssherrytee. I was taught the same thing. Sometimes I do get a little frustrated when individuals that don't have as many degrees or experiences or even have been in some trouble with the law end up with a job. And am still fighting for work. Just any work. What I have learned over this past few years. Its not the job itself. It is who you know. Thanks for sharing.
