I was just wondering other people's opinions on this subject. I have been unemployed for 4 months now (my first time) and have 18 years experience in my field. I had an interview today and was feeling good about it until the very end where they said "your previous salary was significantly larger than what we pay" so I said well do you have a range... and they quoted about $20,000 less a year than I made working 4 days a week at my last job. Would you take this job? Would you wait it out for a better job? Opinions...
Job #2 eventually paid $16.50 hr after 10 years but I was now in Human Resources /Safety and Training which led to where I am at now.... Sr. HR Asst. making $20.00 an hour after 5 years.
Work your way UP once you get into the company. I'd rather have a job than face unemployment any day. If they offered you the position - take it !
Also with the Affordable Care Act there will also be a LOT of employers won't want to create jobs for people who work 30 or more hours per week.... so they don't have to offer insurance benefits! My own company has adjusted hours down to 24 hrs for PT rather than 32.
BTW I am on here looking for some 'support' because I fear I will be losing my job in the future.
If you don't see potential for moving up there, continue to look while you are there.....but at least you will be getting paid while you look.
