Unemployment Support Group
Recently unemployed or frustrated with the job search? Unemployment can affect more than just the bank account - it has a negative effect on motivation and self-esteem, even sense of identity. This community addresses the challenges associated with unemployment and how to cope.
For most people, including myself, I think frustration and discouragement are two of the biggest obstacles to deal with when looking for a job. So much of the time, you won't hear ANYTHING back from the employer when you apply for a position. You also have to deal with the "thanks, but, no thanks..." responses. Worst of all, if you're finally fortunate enough to get an interview for a position you KNOW you'd be great at and have an interview that really goes well, you could still end up with the dreaded "...while you were one of the final candidates, the position has gone to an internal candidate" email.
Being out of work is not for the faint of heart. You just have to try as best as you can not to take it personally, and not allow the repeated rejections to begin to distort the value you know you could bring to a company. If you don't really work at keeping your spirits up every day, it's so easy to fall into the "...they don't want me, so I must not be worth having..." mindset.
Wishing you the best!
