Recently unemployed or frustrated with the job search? Unemployment can affect more than just the bank account - it has a negative effect on motivation and self-esteem, even sense of identity. This community addresses the challenges associated with unemployment and how to cope.
Yesterday I got a call from my friend/ex colleague that I consult with on some projects for his small business. Last year we met about doing a monthly study related to an industry he is an expert in. I also have experience researching the industry. The idea would be to gather information on trends in the industry and develop a report that would be sold to companies in the industry. However, nothing more came of it at the time.
He has reactivated the project and wants to meet with me to discuss it next week. He already has two clients confirmed and with one more we will start producing it. He's in conversations with several other companies so hopefully at least one will come through.
My role would be to assist with the research, especially in English since my friend's English isn't that great. He also wants to have an English edition to hopefully bring in clients from abroad over time, so I would be translating the reports into English.
I really hope it works out. I am having some luck getting some freelance work lately, but it isn't stable. This would give something steady coming in every month, but I'd still have time to take on some other work as well.

It won't be up and running until March, so I won't start getting paid right away. However, the second in charge of the project mentioned she wants me to do some English classes for her, so I will have some money coming in from that.
I am really happy about the turn things have taken. It's not my dream job, but I am past the point of expecting that. The most important thing is that it will be a stable income and will allow me to work from home. It's something I know how to do quite easily. Also, I have worked with the guy in charge and the woman who is the sales manager before and they are both good people to work with. Having a positive work environment is so important.
