the right to advertise medications was won in courts and that also included the right for lawyers to advertise....it sucks...people should not try to be their own doctors...the ads MUST include the statement of harmful side effects by law...so many of these meds have death as a side effect...yeah like because I gotta go gotta go gotta go right now I would risk death rather than wetting yet another pair of pant? NOT!

side note that assumption that the med that uses this phrase might cause death is not necessarily a true side effect of that particular med...
see even I need to keep from being sued by pharma america for telling something that might not be true about their medications...LOL

Unless someone has severe mental problems, doing the anxiety drug cocktail thing doesn't sound like a very good thing to me. You're right - WE'RE not the medical professionals, so how the hell do we know?

The side-effects thing always kills me - how in the world would someone's depression and/or anxiety improve if you're now dealing with nausea, vomiting, headaches and/or tooth loss? And, as if that wouldn't be enough, you could also have a heart attack or just otherwise drop dead. I guess the last side effect would solve our unemployment problem though.

I used to think medical professionals were so smart, but, over the years, I've come to realize that they don't know half of what we think they know.

Long term unemployment can really take a toll on ones' mental health. Years ago, as I was trying to deal with my second (and final, as it turns out) devastating downsizing from AT&T, I took Wellbutrin for about 9 months. It did exactly what my therapist said it would - put me on a level playing field so that what I was facing didn't feel so completely overwhelming. So, I do believe anxiety medications can be beneficial. It's the MIXTURE of them that gives me pause.

In keeping with the lighter side I got this message in my hugbook while reading the post on drug advertising directly to consumers so they can go to their "Dr" and ask for a scrip. Sadly so much of medicine is profit driven.

I don't know how these scammers find me but for some reason they think I have money and am very naive and gullible.

I also got that exact same message and turned that person into the CL at my other group who turned that person into daily strength to be banned from DS.....scammers suck butt!
