New on the job front: I applied for one job and get offered an interview. I go in for the interview only to be told the job is filled but they have a lesser qualified, temporary, no benefits position open. I am so mad right now. And then I got lectured by they guy on how I need to accept an entry level position to get my foot in the door speech for about an hour. No money was discussed but I doubt this temp job pays what the low salary of the other job I applied for in October 2013 and was now ready to accept.
He also said that I basically shot myself in the foot not taking the job in Oct - HE NEVER OFFERED IT TO ME.
I want to say I've had enough with this job interviewing but I can't. I have to make enough money to pay for daycare and gas and more... if they want to pay me $10 an hour I can't take that job because all it would pay for is $9000+ daycare a year ... oh well just needed to vent. I am bummed right now and disappointed with them for giving me a bait and switch with this job. How much are we supposed to take... isn't it enough to just have to interview... now all these games. Double bowl of ice cream to drown my sorrows... though creating new ones with weight gain...

I have to laugh when I hear politicians almost brag about all the of new jobs being created. Notice how none of them ever mention the QUALITY of the jobs. I went through my second and final devastating downsizing from AT&T in 2002 after 18 years with the company. It took me just over a DECADE to earn the hourly wage I had earned at the time of that downsizing. Of course, had I still been with AT&T, my wages would have been far higher by then.
The bait and switch trick should only be used when you're looking to buy a new mattress, not for something as important as earning a living. I generally hold a pretty low opinion of hiring managers, and the experience you had in your post is another reason as to why - they're generally clueless, combined with having very little or NO empathy for what the person sitting in front of them is going through. Sometimes, they seem to act like they're "above it all" and that they couldn't POSSIBLY be unemployed. It's enough to make you scream - or just want to reach across their smug little desks and punch them.
I wish I had the answers to what you're facing, but, of course I don't. I don't have the answers to what I'M facing, much less anyone else. All I can tell you is that you have to just keep trying, even when you get to the point where you don't think you can continue to do so. I honestly believe that if you just keep trying, you'll get that job/position that will be right and good for you.
Of course you know that you don't need a lecture when you're interviewing, so what I would suggest if it happens again is just to professionally explain that to the next clueless hiring manager who tries to pull that crap on you, then get up and leave.
