McKenzie, my daughter is only 9 years old and it seems like she is BP all year round. Although she is so tiny, she has strength of millions of mighty men. I don't know where this has come from but all I know is that before anything bad happens to her, I want God to help her take control back of her life and for her to understand that it is ok to be smart and do your class assignments. She has gone through so many different types of medications from the age of 5 until now. I just hope that we find the right one soon so that we can all be happy and at peace.

mckenzie i will be sure to keep you and your daughter in my prayers. same goes for you tootiewoodie! i know wat its like to be 17 and going through the teenage years only to have your life flipped upside down and be diagnosed with bipolar disorder. its difficult and im here if you need any support! hope all goes well!

Often puberty seems to be the time all goes topsy turvey when we have mood disorders
I know my brother said to his wife Janet and I used to be really close then she turned 13 and went nuts

Tootie , I hope and pray that your 9 yr old gets the right medication for her condition.
So how did she get diagnosed, was she evaluated by a psychiatrist ?

Our daughter was born with kidney and anemia problems, also was a miracle baby since I had lost 2 babies as a results of a miscarriage, and one that was growing into my fallobian tube, so they had to do surgery.
That's when they told me, that I would never get pregnant again, then one year I got pregrant twice, the first one I lost the second I managed to keep until the 9th month.
That was my little Sammy, had 7 ultrasounds during her pregnancy, and was pulled off from work and needed to stay at bedrest until she decided to grow.
Had a very hard labour, and when she did enter this world, she had a kidney problems and anemic.
So right from the start, she was very spoiled in every way possible.
To this day she is sick, with hypoglycemia.
Sammy is an old soul.
Was brought up by parents older than usual since I had her at 33.
So we always had great sense of communication, and we always have open conversation with her.
She is a very good kid.
Very popular in school, she stands out, in a croud of kids her age.
But one problem, she thinks she is ugly, and she is the most beautiful of all of her friends.
Very low self esteem.

Now that you have a good idea of what Sammy's made of, here is what we experienced from her since one year ago.

Her birthday is in April, and in April of last year, she was on a depression, even her school nurse was concious of it, and us of course.
Then within a month, she was back to her whole self.
Then again in April of this year, it all came back, the same behavior.
One second she is happy, and doing all kind of stuff she likes, like riding her horse, or washing one of her many dogs, then all of a sudden she is angry and can throw a fit, and become really angry and uncontrolable feelings, that scares her.
She says that when it happens she can't stop it, she as no control over it.

So her nurse told her a good 3 weeks ago, that she was having a depression.
So she became worst, we pulled her out of school for 6 working days, and she returned this morning.
Her PCP was on holiday, came back this morning, so I made an appointment with him, for him to first give us the results of a bunch of yearly tests she needs to pass, and to get a requisition to see a psychiatrist, to evaluate her.
I do not want her PCP to prescribed any medication, until she is diagnosed.
So the appointment with the PCP is May 19th, then I will get the appointment with the psychiatrist, then I will come back and give you an update.

In the meantime if some of you can give me an idea if you think that she suffers from seasonal depression or bipolar.

Thank you so much W., next Tuesday Sammy as an appointment to be evaluated, hopefully it is what I think it is, Seasonal Depression.
Sammy had a bad experience last year on Apriil 16th, she lost her first boyfriend, she really liked him, and was going out with him for almost a year, when he left her on the eve of her Birthday, April 17th.
So we didn't think of this in the beginning, but now that we do, we are thinking of Seasonal Depression, plus having this bad memory of what happened during this same time, spring, it might just be that, depression.
So Tuesday, hopefully her Doctor will be able to put a name to what is happening to my beautiful teenage daughter.
Again thank you all for being there for both Sammy and myself.
I will definitely keep you posted when I get more news, on the diagnosed, and the meds they might give to her, for anxiety, cause do tend to be anxious year long.

Well friends, as promise an update of Samantha Jade.
First I went into the Doctor's office, since I wanted her to be tested for a couple of other health issues my daughter as been struggling with since birth.
She had kidney problems at 6 months, and was treated and tested ect.. .for months, until every thing was back to normal.
But lately she has been complaining of lower back aches, and pains, even when eating food, no matter how small the pieces of food, and how slow she eats, it seem to hurt her from the upper spine, and as the food go down, she feels it through her back, (spine).
So she was schedule, for x-ray of her back, and an ultrasound, in June..
Hopefully both kidney grow together, the Doctor says that if it did come back, maybe it would be one of the kidney never grow like the other one, if they are both the same side, then it's not the problem.
So another thing to worry about for a month, until she goes for the ultrasound.
As for her evaluation, well like I started to mention, I gave an over all description of last year episode, and that at first I thought it could be bipolar, since she would go into those rages, and she is usually so calm and collective, then I mentioned that last year she had a bit of depression.
Then I left,,,, a good hour later, if not more, she came out with a prescription of anti-depressants.
She is not to return to school.
Thank God she is home school at home since a good month now, so until she sees him again, she is not to go back to school.
She was a bit disappointed, but better safe than sorry.
The last time she thought she was ready, she started to cry in the class room and I had to go pick her up.
So that the update on our daughter.
