You musnt stop without seeing the dr first, I am on insulin so I dont know about the tablets,have a chat with your GP he will probably change them for you.
Have you looked them up to see what the side effects are?

Hi, I'm Morgan and have just been diagnosed with Type 2. Doc started me on Metformin twice a day. When I took it in the morning I was useless the rest of the morning. I've 75 but very active but this stuff killed and desired to go outside. I had my first appointment with the Diabetes clinic and they put me on Metformin ER once a day.
