I hated people just rubbing all over my belly. Most people would at least ask, but there were always some that assume when you are pregnant that your belly is public property. Get ready to run interference though..when you have those adorable littl ebabies everyone is going to want to touch them!

that is true when I was pregnant, everyone and there brother wanted to touch my belly, espically people I didn't even know, I work at a retail store, so peopl would just walk up to me and start acting like they was going to touch my belly , when I would back up. they would leave it alone.now that my boys are here everyone wants to touch them, cause they are twins,they are still just babies being twins doesn't change that.peopl think there is a difference cause of being twins, seem more interested.

i hated being touched. i have a personal bubble...and i really didn't like people being in it. that bubble extends to my kids too...people still want to touch them, and they are 8 months.
while you are still pregnant, buy a shirt (search online) that states the whole don't touch my belly thing.
and if people won't stop, just touch theirs as they rub yours, and see how much they appreciate it.
i just up and say' don't touch them please' when i see hands reaching out. it's rude of people to touch....you don't know where their hands have been!

Scuba, I remember the whole touchy-feely thing when I was carring my girls (26 yrear ago)People gravitate twords the belly. If you can't head them off at the pass, tell them that your belly is stretching and is very sore.
I also like Roarke's advise, get a shirt, write in perment marker, and say someting cute but to the point..like: Please keep your paws off the belly>

It is annoying but I don't think the the 'fealers' know how bothersome it is. I will admit to rubbing a belly or two of a friend in my day. I don't think anyone has ill intentions other than amazement and curiousity. It is part of the miracle of life and I think people are genuinely attracted to it. If it is too bothersome, just say no thanks (especially from strangers!). But if you can bear it, just try to be graceful and take it as a compliment. When someone asks me if they can rub my belly, I just say 'I'd rather have you rub my back or my feet' and keep it light. ;-)

This just happened to me. I HATE being touched, and by instinct I pushed the persons hand away. They were shocked until I explained that they had not ASKED if I wanted to be touched, and how would she feel if I just grabbed her boob. She was horrified that I would think to touch her that way, and I told her that's how I feel, HORRIFIED. I have decided that this is how I plan on treating everyone. It's brutal, but I figure its good pratice when people with cooties want to touch my babies.

Fortunately, the only touchers for me so far have been a a long-time coworker (who asked first) and my mother.

For everyone else, I have my response ready: This is NOT a petting zoo!

I agree! The biggest offender of touching in my life is my Mother-In Law. I am not sure how I would feel if I was actually showing, but I am only 2 monthes and already she is rubbing my stomach. She says hello to the babies before she even says hello to me, I find it very annoying. The last time she did it I told her I didn't really like it and she replied with "I just can't help myself" What does this mean??? I haven't seen her since so does it mean she will stop, or just keep doing it knowing I don't like it lol

It is annoying and it gets quite frustrating, but it's all part of the pregnancy experience i guess. I know when i was pregnant they all wanted to know where the babies heads were and you have to as far as drawing a diagram with your finger, but again. All part of the fun

I found a happy medium, you can touch, but rub and you die lol I haven't had any strangers try to touch me yet, but I am do not forsee this happening since I am pretty strong willed and will flat out say no. It drives my mother crazy that I won't let her rub my belly, but I do let them touch. The only person allowed to rub is my husband, it feels great when he does it :) Just stay strong, it is your body and no one has the right to violate your space.

I felt the exact same way. It was funny because the more people would touch my belly, the more the girls would kick...lol! As if they were saying, please don't touch us or our mommy!
