I'm writing from the hospital tonight. On Friday, the 15th I started having contractions at home. I went the the doctor's office that afternoon, and they sent me to the hospital to be monitored because I was 1cm dialated. They gave me a shot to stop the contractions that didn't work, so they started an IV of magnesium sulfate. Oh wow, was that rough. I felt like my entire body was on fire...even my eyes. It was really rough going for a while. The had cold clothes wiping me down, a fan blowing on me - nothing seemed to relieve it. After a while it settled down a little, and now, Saturday night, they have lowered the dose and I am hoping to be home by Monday. They also gave me steroid shots yesterday and today (Saturday) in case the labor starts again and they are unable to stop it. Since I am 30 weeks, they would have to send me to another hospital to deliver, if I can make it to 32 weeks I'll be able to deliver here, which is really what I want to do. Please keep our girls in your thoughts and prayers.

I am thinking of you and your girls so very much. My sister had magnesium and it was very rough. You've made it to 30 weeks and you just need to hang in there a little longer. Stay strong mommy!

Good luck! I am thinking of you! Those steriod shots do wonders! I am confident they are the reason my munchkins came home with me.

You'll do great. If it s any consolation, I had my girls at 33 weeks with no steroid shts and they came home 13 days later and are super healthy 10 month olds. Just keep em cooking a little while longer! Try to really relax for the next few weeks.

Thank you all for your support. I'm still in the hospital today. They tried to back the meds off and the contractions started back up again. Looks like I could be here for a while. I haven't seen the doc today, so don't know if there has been cervical change or not. I can't thank you all enough for your thoughts and prayers.

Good Luck you can definately do this. I had the magnesium and that stuff was rough but it does level off for you. If you go home make sure you do nothing but stay in bed you don't want to risk anything you have made it this far. My prauers are with you.

I had magnesium sulfate also, 3 times, and I agree it's the worst!!! I went into premature labor starting at 29 weeks and they said I'd be lucky to make it to 32 weeks, because I was also dialated to 1cm. My twin boys were born at 36w2d and came home from the hospital with me 48 hours later. I'll keep you in my prayers:)
