Well...the clothes probably wont go to waste, they just probably wont wear the matches at the same time. I dress my B/G twins up when it is holiday time or special occasions..Otherwise, they choose their own clothes...good luck

I am a identical twin and i can tell you from experiance that i only dressed the same as my twin until i was 2. I am having some difficulties seperating myself from my twin and though it seem insignificant at six. people will never see tham as 2 diffrent people if you don't let them dress difrently.

My kids love dressing alike.They have to have the same shoes,socks.and coats on or they get mad.I tried buying differant coloring but they fight over them.I will dress them the same until they do not want to.I do get a couple of clothing out and they pick which one they want to where that day.

I agree with lizzygirl, they can still wear them but just not at the same time. 6 is probably a good age to start letting them have an opinion on what they wear or help picking things out, but I think you should have the final say. My 8 year old isn't good at matching so I let her choose and then I change it up a bit.

I say besides pics, holidays and special events, let em dress independently-they;re big girls now!!

I have B/G babies and I only dress them similar during holidays because the selection is small any other time. Otherwise I'd go wild!

I've dressed my boys differently since they were first born. It's hard I know that your little girls now want to wear something completely different, but think of it this way.. They're developing their very own personalities and this is exactly what they need to do.. Be proud that you've raised two lovely, independent girls.

I have 7yr old twin girls and 3 yr old twin boys. Both sets choose their clothing to wear, and it is never the same.The girls hate it.Personaly i think its mean to dress them the same as we know and most others know that they r twins, why dress them alike?They r not dolls, and they are individuals.Just my opinion though.

I am a twin, and I'll tell you that when they don't want to dress the same, then they won't. Twins want to be seen as their own peson, not as a set, and clothes are often a way of acheiving that. Just let them try ot dressing differntly for a while. It had to happen eventually, anyways. Look for what they each want in their clothes, because that will be what makes them happy.

I'm not going to say there is a right or wrong answer to this. I am pregnant with twins, and don't plan to dress them the same. If they wish to when they are older, they certainly will be able to, but only if they want to. I think they need to be able to be as individual as they want. Good luck with this.

you could mix and maych the outfits so they dont go to waste,
asnd as much as u may like dressing them the same because they look idenical,i can assure u they are 2 DIFFERENT people with different personalaties,as they are still young u have a right to choose what they wear,but listen to them as they grow ,if they want to wear different clothes-let them,its about finding their own identity!!x

We always wanted to give our identical girls a sense of individualality. We didn't name them twiny names( Erica and Dana)dressed them same outfits different color until they were 2 and after 2.. what ever. Dressing them the same in school years seems to be about the Mom not the kids.Though best friends still, they didn't really seperate until they were 20 years old and Erica moved to the East coast.

My girls are two and a half. I always have them in the same thing. Everyone tells me I should not dress them alike. I tell them "when they are old enough to tell me they don't want to do it anymore, I'll stop". I think if you don't give them choices as simple as what they want to wear, they may end up thinking they don't have a choice at all. They are only clothes. You have to let them explore who they are. They will always be twins, but they will never be exactly the same. They need their own identities. Dressing the same is for your benifit, not theirs. Hope you find the answers you are looking for.

6 years old is old enough to let them start making decisions.

We actually have never purchase identical outfits(the family always has though). As they outgrew them, I was just recently asked by the 11 years olds if they can get some school clothes that match.. I thought it was kinda funny. They actually want to look alike.

For special events I get them dressed up sometimes on purpose the same(including the 15yr old sister too) but otherwise I would never "force" them to dress alike if they didn't want to.

Everyone called them the twins, The teacher wrote to each of the kids "You are special because...her response for the boys was because... you are twins. They hated not being recognized for who they were individually. All their friends and teachers got them confused. I used to dress them the same but in different colors. It worked until school and they really were asking to be recognized as 1 person who is different from everyone else and were frusterated that they were seen as the same. Besides it will make them feel important and unique if they can pick their own stuff out. Each of my boys have a different style of dressing and I try to respect that.
