Turner Syndrome Support Group
Turner syndrome encompasses a number of chromosomal abnormalities, of which monosomy X, is the most common. It occurs in 1 out of every 2,500 female births. Instead of the normal XX sex chromosomes for a female, only one X chromosome is present and fully functional. In Turner syndrome, female sexual characteristics are present but underdeveloped.
Hi group members
I am new to this group and recently married. And just recently found out that I have TS. My OBGYN refreed me to a fertility specalist which then in return diagnosed me with TS. She only wanted to refree me to a cardiologist which i am goin to see soon; and just told me she dont recommend egg donor or me carrying a baby. My husband and I dont want to give up hope sooo is there any recommendations? We're totally lost and dont know what to do next after the cardiologist work up. Has IVF been successful for anyone else in this group?
I have not had IVF, but have heard IVF has been more successful over the years for us women with TS. Unfortunately, though, there are many complications you should be aware of: pregnancy-induced hypertension, preeclampsia, eclampsia, are just a few risks for the mother; however, there are also many risks for the baby. I would talk to your doctor/specialist for more details and information to help decide what is best for you. :) Personally, I will adopt when I am ready to have children.
