Turner Syndrome Support Group
Turner syndrome encompasses a number of chromosomal abnormalities, of which monosomy X, is the most common. It occurs in 1 out of every 2,500 female births. Instead of the normal XX sex chromosomes for a female, only one X chromosome is present and fully functional. In Turner syndrome, female sexual characteristics are present but underdeveloped.
I'm 21 years old and have Turner Syndrome, and while I don't have many noticeable physical features of T.S. I do look much younger than I am. People usually mistake me for being 12
I am 21 and have TS as well. I look a bit younger than what I am, and don't have a lot of physical features of TS either. I have occasionally been mistaken for being 15-16. I think this is something she will have to figure out for herself, just like anyone with social experiences; learning how to trust people, creating solid friendships, etc. My advice is to continue to guide your daughter in being confident, independent, and competent. Don't worry, she will be okay :)
