I'm a 20 year old with TS, and I think I can relate to your daughter. I'm pretty sure I was around her age when I actually started crushing on boys. Even then I wouldn't do much about it - I would think a boy was cute, but I would just sit back and not really do anything about it. I was even reluctant to tell my friends about the boys I had an interest in, mainly because of self confidence issues I think. I just thought another boy would never like me, so why bother. Then, when I was 15 I got my first boyfriend. Sure, it didn't last long, but I consider it a turning point for me. I couldn't believe I was finally dating! (Even though some of the girls my age were already on boyfriend number 5) I haven't had a boyfriend since I was 15, and to be honest I haven't even really gotten close to having one until very recently... I think part of that may have to do with self confidence issues yet, but also I just found other things to be more important. I have a few friends even at this age who I've never heard talk about being interested in a guy... So I wouldn't be worried about your daughter at all at this point. From what I know, yes, there does seem to be reason to believe that TS girls just develop relationships later in life, but I also believe changes in culture may have something to do with it too. By that I mean people are getting married later, having kids later, etc. My mom was just telling me the other day that when she was my age, she was married at home with a kid. Tell a majority of my friends who are my age this, and they will say the same thing I told her... You're crazy lol I'm in college right now, and that's where my focus is. Although I must admit there is a boy I've been talking with who has been getting my interest... :) My point is, I wouldn't force anything on her at this point for sure... Life at 12 is tough for anyone, especially those with TS, but I'm sure she will prosper :) Best of luck and if you have any other questions, I'm always happy to talk boys lol :)

Being different from others is not easy, so many people percive and treat girls with TS as kids ( -when we are teenagers or starting to get in puberty) that we start to believe in that by ourself. We start to believe that we are to young for relationships and boys. And everyday there are commercials in which is obvious that sex sells and they try to convince us that only girls with big breast are atractive, and that only potentiates our low self confidence and we stop getting interested in boys. Next to that boys in teenage years are not interested in long term relationships, they are only looking for sexual experiences and girls that are atractive on the outside. It is usually when they grow up they become wiser, more mature and they start judging women by her personality (and not just outside).
I also have TS and personaly i can say that i became interested in men when i was 25 years old.

Hi! Just to throw in my two cents, maybe if your daughter hasn't mentioned crushes on boys and whatnot...that maybe she isn't interested in that gender?

I know that I've personally gone through periods of desire for other women, even from before I was your daughters age. Give your daughter time to discover who she is and what she wants. :)

She will become interested in boys. I did. Unfortunately for me, this led to a really heartbreaking situation. I was in love with a boy three years younger when I was l7. His nanny and my mom were friends. I think he loved me too, and wanted to be with me, but because my mom was so overprotective and wouldn't allow us to be together alone I think he lost interest and moved on to someone else and she got pregnant. And yes, given the opportunity, I would have had sex with him.

I wouldn't worry about her. She's very young and I never talked to my mother or said anything to her about a boy I liked. Most girls if they talk about boys it usually with friends etc. 12 years old is really when children start to noticed each other.
