TTC after stillbirth Community Group
A group for those who have suffered a stillbirth and are considering ttc or actively ttc again. We know the emotional challenges of trying again and who better to support us than others who have been through what we have been through.

I'm new here.
My son Eli was stillborn at 39 weeks on 6/23/09. I had felt no movement the day before (he had been really active the previous night), so I went to the hospital for monitoring at about 11:50 p.m. The nurses found no heartbeat, and I'll never forget watching my baby's skeletal frame on the sonogram screen with no movement in his ribcage where his heartbeat used to be. Most ghastly and horrifying moment of my life, by far.
After they determined that he was small enough to be delivered vaginally, I was induced. He was delivered at 2:50 p.m. the following day--20 inches, 8 lbs., perfect. Pushing him out was one of the most amazing, uplifting experiences of my life, oddly enough. He was beautiful! The autopsy determined that his cord was hypocoiled (not coiled enough), which caused it to be temporarily kinked long enough to cut off his blood supply. Freak cord accident. Nothing anybody could have done to prevent it.
My husband and I knew right away that we wanted to try again. We asked the doctor in the delivery room when we could try, and he recommended 3 cycles. I'm 36 and my husband is 37, so it's not like we have an unlimited fertility window ahead of us. Eli was our first child (well, we had a miscarriage and d&c a year ago at 8 weeks, but Eli was the first pregnancy that I've carried to term).
The problem (apart from the obvious trauma, heartbreak, etc.) is that I am not ovulating at all. It's been nearly 60 days since Eli was born, and I've been using OPK sticks and tracking my temp since about 3 weeks in. No ovulation. My temps shifted back into my normal zone about 4 weeks in, but I haven't seen a shift up.
I've had some light bleeding the last few days, but it's certainly not AF-strength, so I think it's just some breakthrough bleeding because my lining is built up. I saw my doctor at 6 weeks, and he didn't seem concerned. He said that the grief and stress associated with the stillbirth was probably wreaking havoc on my hormones.
It's making me crazy not knowing when or if I'll ever ovulate again. I would feel much calmer about things if I had even the slightest idea about when we will be able to start trying again.
Did anybody else experience this? Any advice (apart from being patient)? Is there anything a doctor can do to get my cycles started again?
Sorry for such a long post (it's my first here--I've been lurking for awhile).
Thanks for any help or advice you can give!

Is anyone here allergic to Sulfa that is currently taking Diamox? I have been diagnosed with IH now for almost 2 years. I am allergic to Sulfa drugs meaning that my throat will swell up so my Neurologist put me on Topamax. I was suffering from major loud whoosing noises and the topamax helped that but everyday I still hear those mainly between 6 - 12 pm. I am at my wits end and have not went...

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
@ Erica--have you tried tracking your basal temps? You can tell if you ovulate when your temperature shifts upward and sustains at that level until your period comes. If you haven't been there yet, fertilityfriend.com has a lot of good information about tracking your temps to determine whether you have ovulated.
