hello everyone!
I decided to join this group to get support on my ttc journey. I am 26 years old. My hubby is 30, will be 31 in July. We have been trying since last year (I was 25) and nothing. Not a faint positive, no chemical... just bfn's. I am fast approaching 12 months.. going on 11 months and am feeling anxious. I just assumed it would happen so fast being so young and healthy. I am seeing people pregnant, announcing pregnancies and coworkers of mine pregnant. It's all really hitting me hard recently. I'm devastated to say the least. I feel so sad and upset when everyone else who is my age is getting pregnant so quickly it's so discouraging :( I decided it's time to put myself out there and join a support group and read from others who are going through same thing. I know I am technically still early in my ttc journey but I know at 1 year you are considered infertile. It's so scary to me. i have gotten baseline testing .. everything comes back Normal for my husband and I. I got an hsg, Normal. Husbands sperm Normal. My hormone levels fsh, progesterone , estradiol etc Normal. I get positive opks every month. I got an ultrasound done and I am awaiting results. (Ie my lining, eggs etc). My periods are like clockwork monthly 27-30 days. Ovulation days range from day 14-17.
I know I have 15 antral follicles on left ovary and 24 on my right (the tech told me). I have been reading online, I feel that may be too high and everywhere I read says polycystic ovaries or pcos. I have to wait two months to get the results! I've been waiting since march and get results end of April. Not sure if that is something to concerned about? Any one have similar count or know anything about that?

I don't know if I have it as I have no other symptoms. I just know I have a lot of follicles on my ovaries. If you don't mind me asking, did you have around same amount as I do? And what treatments have you done to help ? I wish I would have been diagnosed early on if I do have it.. how was it missed?? All my blood tests are normal . My doctor and naturopath told me it doesn't look like I have it. It shows I ovulate monthly. Hormones good. No insulin problems. Just so confused with this whole thing!
sfbaby1, I am no Doctor so I will speak of my personal experience. When PCOS is present it manifest in different ways according to the hormone that you are overproducing. Excess of Androgen a male hormone and Insulin, the hormone in charge of turning sugars into energy. The balance of hormones that you make in the ovaries is altered. In particular, your ovaries make more than normal of a male hormone testosterone. You do not ovulate each month. Some women do not ovulate at all. In PCOS although the ovaries usually have many follicles, they do not develop fully and so ovulation often does not occur. If you do not ovulate then you may not have a period.
PCOS runs in my family: my mother and my Grandmother from my father side had it. My mother suffered of severe pelvic pain before and during her periods. My parents TTC journey took 3 years before success. They had my brother and then a year later my second brother came along. I came into the picture completely unexpected seven years after, my mother was 35. They were not trying to have another baby and my mom was under birth control. No miscarriages.
My grandmother had a visible mustache and chin hair. The excess of the hormone Androgen- a male hormone-makes you grow hair like a man does; legs, toes, chest, back, stomach. In her days PCOS was recently discover and treatment was not at her reach. She had my father really young, her second baby, a girl, She suffered SIDS, 16 years later my uncle was born. She was in her 30's.
In my case at age 11, I started to grow facial hair but it was not until age 13 that PCOS hit me hard. My weight gain was notable, acne was out of control and my hair was falling off like crazy. My period stop completely for 6 months . When my period hit was never a regular one, I never knew where the next one will come, when it did my pelvic pains before and during got to an extreme. I was found unconscious at my home and by teachers and students at school. My Periods were a nightmare. Doctors looked at my sugar and hormone levels, an ultrasound confirm the rest. The results did took a few month of course, but is worth the wait. They need it to make sure is not anything else. Doctors put me under a hormone treatment (birth control) diet low in sugars combine with exercises to help keep insulin in check. Getting rid of the cyst took 4 months. My ovaries were Ok after that, pelvic pain was still hard but manageable. When ever the hormone imbalance symptom appear I would had to go to the OBGY ,check out my ovaries and get on treatment again. I confess is hard. Every time I stop ovulating my heart skips a beat.
TTC with PCOS is... all about giving it a try. You literally has a 50 % chance of having trouble to 50% of having absolutely NONE. Each month is a 50%. chance of dropping an egg. If you do get trouble there is over 4 treatments that can help you to conceive. Unlike my Grandmothers days we have more than a chance to have baby if we find challenges.
Please hang in there while you wait for the results. Cry if you have too, get the stress out, then pick your self up. Don't stop, you and your hubbie keep your eyes on the goal and love each other even more.
