I can definitely empathize with your cycle of emotions. I do the same thing. I get all hopeful for another try, and then I have that huge let-down when I have my period. It is difficult to stay positive, especially when you've been trying for a while. I have a large extended family, and no one has had fertility issues - new pregnancies/babies coming along all the time!
It is tough to stay positive all of the time, but I've realized that you shouldn't be expected to. I've started saying "I'm going to cry for an hour the day of my period and then put it away." Dwelling on it can stress you out and the stress just makes it more difficult to conceive. I've also started keeping a journal. Especially when it's something difficult to talk about with others in your life - that journal can really help. It's a place to vent without judgement, and when the journal is full - I just burn the pages.
Have you been working with a fertility specialist at all? I am scheduled to visit one tomorrow, and I'm nervous/hopeful.
I almost want to stop trying because i hate the waiting and the disappointment, and i couldn't even imagine how women going through iui or ivf can stay calm. I'm normally an optimistic person, but am having trouble staying positive..
Have you seen a fertility specialist? The crazy thing is there are so many factors that go into conceiving that can be tested.
I have not seen a fertility specialist, but my obgyn has tested my progesterone levels( which were low so I take clomid), my tubes for blockage, and my husband has been tested. What other tests do they run?
