Provera and Clomid

Hello everyone!

I have been off birth control for 2 and a half years now. Since, my cycle has been close to nonexistent. Sounds like a dream until you are actually ttc. My GYN has prescribed Provera for 10 days and Clomid for days 5-9 of my cycle. I'm on my 3rd day of Provera and no sign of AF. I am looking for some experiences, advice, side effects, what I should expect, etc from anyone that has done this or a similar treatment. I am very nervous and I am trying to maintain the little that is left of my sanity.

I was ttc for just over two years with highly irregular periods and due to the extreme nature of my periods, my ob believes I was not ovulating at all during this time. So she put me on progesterone (if my memory serves, starting immediately to kick start my period) followed by clomid (on days 5-9). Upon finishing the clomid, I used the ovulation tests as she recommended, got my first positive ovulation window, and had sex accordingly. I'm now about 17 weeks pregnant as a result of that first month of meds. I totally did not expect to get pregnant on my first month of clomid after so long with no success and it was a great blessing and surprise! I can't remember any side effects from the meds, but I tend to be rather moody or sad as I have depression, so if those happened, it wasn't too out of the norm to take note.

My suggestion is to relax, trust the doctors and try to not put yourself down or focus on how long you've been trying. It's so easy to feel like you're broken or like nothing's going to work, but there's something out there for all of us. I really believe that now. And it could happen when you least expect it. So take it easy, enjoy your time with your partner and have a drink for me. One way or another, this month or a future one, everything will fall into place. Best wishes to you and yours!
