I was diagnosed with PCOS back in May of 2016. My husband and I have been actively trying to conceive ever since. I have had 5 failed rounds of Clomid where I didn’t ovulate. 5 rounds of Femara where I did ovulate and produced follicles however still did not conceive. 1 failed IUI. I feel like a failure. Every woman in my family had no issues with conceiving, leaving me to feel alone because no one can relate to my issues. Neither me or my husband have children. I’m 29 and he’s 32 and we want nothing more than to be able to grow our family. I’m hoping for support from ladies that can relate.
Talking to well meaning people who don't fully understand what you're going through can be frustrating! My faves (least faves) are "Just stop thinking about it and it will happen" and 'stop trying so hard'. My mum also loves to tell me stories about people she's read about who gave up after years of failed treatment and then conceived naturally because they weren't focusing on it. Yesterday my friend asked me if we would consider adoption, so casually as if she were a sales assistant suggesting a different dining set because the one I liked had sold out...?!!
Yes, when others try to help it can sometimes feel insincere or uninformed, and its impossible to comprehend infertility on an emotional level unless you're going through or have been through it yourself. I guess that's why this forum is here. How connected are you and your husband about all this - do you share your feelings with him?
