It takes up to a year for the average fertile couple to achieve a successful pregnancy, and here at DailyStrength you will find information and support while you are waiting for...
I too thought the same thing. Go off of birth control and whammo - get preggers! We are now in our 15th month of trying (of course I'm guessing that I am older than you which is part of the problem). So, I know what you are feeling. When you make the decision to try you want immediate results. At least I do. But who knew it was so difficult? We spend all that time trying to prevent it and when we want it - nothing! It truly is a science experiment. Are you using ovulation tests and tracking your days on a calendar? I'd give yourself a few more months and if nothing happens, talk to your doctor. Usually they want your partner to be tested to rule out problems with him first. I've heard good things about the Clearblue Easy fertility monitor. I do not have that, but I have used the CBE Ovulation tests both the digital and non. They do help pin-point the optimal days to try.
I thought the same thing and my BF and I have been trying for about the same time (went off of BC - Nuvaring - in November... first cycle without BC was Dec.).
I know, for me, I'm the type that once I make a decision, I want to move full steam ahead that MOMENT! I didn't want TTC (especially with my age) to be such a crap shoot. What has helped me is reading the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility. I now track my temps every morning, check my CM and CP, and use OPK's like Jen suggested above. It helps me feel a little more "in control" of the process and I know better when to schedule intercourse for (hopefully) optimum results!
Good luck to you! Try not to get too discouraged. Educate yourself and charge forward! :-)
