Have I jinxed myself?

28 years old, TTC for 7 months. I’ve spent my whole life saying I never wanted kids and how I thought that they were just the worst. Now, at 28 and viewing life a bit differently, I’m wondering if my struggle is just the universes way at getting back at me. Glad to be part of a group, as I don’t feel as though I have anyone to talk to about this.

What I have concluded is bad things happen to good people, or for some of us it takes longer to get things that come easy to others. While it's not fair, I think of all the bad people in the world who are able to have children easily and multiple times, such as neglectful or abusive parents. Clearly there is no relation to the universe getting back at you.

Trust me I was the same way towards children until a few years ago. We have done nothing wrong nor do we "deserve" this. In my experience this seems to strike only the kindest people that would be responsible and loving parents. Not sure why, but it's true. Wishing you luck and 7 months is not bad at all, don't lose hope. If it does not happen in a year, see your doctor asap. I waited very long as I was in denial.

Thank you so much. It genuinely brings me tears of joy to hear someone say this! I'm going to stop trying to convince myself that I "deserve it". I will be sure to start following up around that time. That's also why I've not told anyone that we've been trying. Because to potentially hear someone say that I "did it to myself" would just be the absolute worst. And one thing I've learned is that people have no filter when it comes to their opinion on your fertility and personal life choices.

You're so welcome! Believe me, I have wondered multiple times what I have done so wrong in my life, and I realized nothing! People totally have no filter and so many comments not even directed at me break my heart all the time, but I rise above it. You can't let them get to you, and stay strong. Focus on you and your life choices are no one's business! :)

I was exactly the same way and unfortunately a few years older than you (31). We have been ttc since January and it has been the most frustrating and depressing process. I think that I am way in my head. Today I got my period after it being 3 days late when it is normally never late. We have also decided to take a break from officially ttc to hopefully give me some time to emotionally get balanced once again.

I'm thinking about taking a break as well. Trying to regroup so that it doesn't seem to be so much of a chore.

You are not alone! I am 27 and have been TTC for about 8 months. You aren't being punished, it just takes time. I know how frustrating it is to wait and to keep having negative pregnancy tests. Have you had your hormones checked yet?
