This does NOT make you a bad person, just a normal person. This journey is hard. It is isolating, rough as HECK on your emotions, and very trying mentally. You are not a bad friend, you are simply struggling right now. Your friends will understand and not judge you, especially if they are close friends who know what you are going through. Try to hang in there, and not be too hard on yourself. It does get better. My husband and I had to try (with LOTS of roadblocks and speedbumps in our path) for over two years, but now I am starting my 14th week! Hang in there! I felt the same way! I just focused on being a daughter instead of trying to be a mother. Is your mother still alive? It was hard to do but I just spent time planning things for her and my mother in law and it sorta helps

You are not a bad friend. Like someone said before if they are close friends they will understand. My husband and I have been trying for 7 years. It has been a roller coaster. Do they crying and venting and avoid the things that you can that bring you mentally down. And the other things will come easier.

As for myself, my husband and I were never preventing during our entire relationship, as we were never on any type of birth control. We were together for about 5 years before the wedding bells, and no happy pregnancy surprises happened. Then, after about 6 months of trying, we decided to take my aunt up on her suggestion to visit a fertility specialist, since I am an older maternal age, and the clock was definitely ticking. That was a little over 2 years ago, and we got pregnant officially in March. So it was definitely a long road, but soooo worth it. I feel very fortunate that after all of the roadblocks we had, the implantation worked on the first try! So now we have 3 additional little embies frozen and waiting, if we decide to give little peanut a sibling, which we likely will do. After that, I plan on (as long as the 2nd one works on the first try too) donating my 2 remaining embryos to a couple that cannot afford to go through all of these processes, as I feel like that would make my heart so full to be able to give the opportunity of motherhood to someone who could not otherwise fulfill that dream. Ohh I struggle so much with this too. I just found out that my younger sister, married 8 weeks ago is 6 weeks pregnant, and it caught me so off-guard. I've been barely coping since then. I'm happy for her of course, but crushed beyond words for myself. I think we have to let ourselves feel the very real feelings we go through and know that we're doing the best we can, with one of the hardest things a woman can ever go through. I've been sobbing every day.. If you'd want to chat more, I'd love that.. I'm new here. Hang in there.

I have been struggling with this alot. I recently declined a baby shower invite for a friend who I only see once a year or so, and had other plans that day anyway. When my original plans fell through, my BEST friend texted me asking if I was coming to the shower and I said no. She texted back, "You just avoid everything that has to do with babies now don't you!" How insensitive is that? It makes it hard for me to keep celebrating others. Feel your pain, do what is right for you. I have started to make decisions based on my happiness - if I don't want to spend 4 hours on my Saturday at a shower or 2 year old's birthday party, I don't!
