Also, a few years ago, I was only have my period every three or four months, and once not for six months. I started seeing a naturopath and with the help of vitamins and minerals, my cycle (within 3 months) moved to a regular 28 day cycle. Naturopaths are expensive if you don't have coverage though.
Anyway, I really hope you get some answers from your doctor. I will be hoping for you.
It is significant to consider the timing of ovulation. Ovulation occurs approximately 14 days prior to the start of the next period. This means, for example, if a woman has a regular 28-day cycle, that she will ovulate on or around day 14 of her cycle. On the other hand, if a woman has a typically longer cycle, say for example a 32-day cycle, then she will ovulate later, in this case on the 18th day of her cycle. While the timing is not exact, and can vary from one woman to the next, or even from one cycle to the next, these are rough averages that you can use to start calculating ovulation in relation to your period.
It often happens that a woman will not have a period for one reason or another. Any number of things can cause a woman not to have a period. For example, low body weight can cause a woman to miss periods. In addition, strenuous exercise has also been shown to cause a woman to not have a period. However, during these times that the woman is not having a period, she may very well still be ovulating. Not ovulating is a completely different situation than not having a period, and can be caused by completely different things.
It is important to note that a woman can still become pregnant during her period. If she has a short cycle, and ovulation occurs near her period, the sperm could in theory live long enough to fertilize an egg, as sperm can live for between 3 and 5 days in a womans body
