Loss of child with Edwards Syndrome

I lost a child with edwards syndrome in july 2008, but decided to terminate after learning of the prognosis from the doctors. We came to this decision as we did not want our child to suffer any more. I have regretted this decision ever since and feel I was bullied into the decision from the doctors and family members. I miss my baby matthew every day since and gave him a resting place to show him how much I love him and did not terminate because I didnt love him. I since have had twins and everybody says im getting him back but u can never replace one child with another. I struggle with the decision I made every day and feel there is something missing in my life,

I can only imagine the pain that you are going through. My husband and i had decided that we were going to terminiate my pregnancy when we found out she had Edwards Syndrome. We luckly didn't have to make that choice because I went into labor after the Amnio was done. I am sure you love him and the decision you made was the right one for you because you love him. I pray that someday you can find peace with your decision and the idea that you made that decision because you did not want Matthew to suffer. I agree you can never get him back no matter how many children you have.

i never had to make that decison as erin was not diagnosed till birth, but i have gone on to have two babies since and everyone seems to think that i should be over Erin, this is far from the truth i miss her very much and would never forget her. Im sorry you had to make this decison, and you felt bullied into it. much love to you x

My little girl Samantha was born 24 years ago never discovered she had Edwards till then she lived for 13 weeks and it was the most anxious thing I have ever gone through I still think of her every day in the beginning it was hard when she died it was the week before Xmas so I never felt like celebrating but I had 2 other children to consider so time has eased the heartache but nothing heals the pain of losing a child
