Trigeminal neuralgia, or Tic Douloureux, is a neuropathic disorder of the trigeminal nerve that causes episodes of intense pain in the eyes, lips, nose, scalp, forehead, and jaw. Trigeminal neuralgia is considered by many to be among the most painful of conditions.
I am worried I have this.I got diagnosed with TMJ but I still worry.what does the pain feel like?
It's different for everyone. There are different types of TN, I have Atypical or Type2 which is constant pain, hot and swelling. The pain is throughout my Trigeminal nerves and it feels like you need a root canal in all of your teeth. The pain is so severe that I fall into the fight or flight emotion. Without medications I don't think I would still be able to continue a somewhat normal life.. I also get strikes and breakthrough pain. IA strike is a pain that is severe enough to take you to your knees that is triggered by many things maybe perfume,cold,heat,weather pressure and so many more. The best book I read was striking back that has a lot of information that will probably be helpful for you. I hope you feel better. :)
