Hi, I have been totally lost from here. I wrote a lot in my journal tonight, I don't think it anywhere here.
I feel sad you go through such more pain then I have, I have dealt with TN for over a year I am a Lucky man, not years , Diagnoses for me was quick with my VA Doc, I took Gabapentin helped me the best , but not always ,I went through periods of attackes then none with very little Gabapentin, I went up and down with attacks and meds , the meds affected my whole life , Yes ambition , none thinking good , none.
I just had MVD surgery 3 weeks ago. I am still lucky to have a neurosurgeon who is excellent and suggested I go with MVD.
I wish all of us pain free , , Bostan TN I hope the day comes you have a good surgery and you can TALK < TALK TALK.
I had a period I couldn't talk without severe pain. It was irratic of the triggers from time to time.

I'm new to this site today, so I don't have any familiarity with members here or their history with TN, but want to leave a message. I live in the Midwest, so I experience the four seasons. There are two seasonal conditions that impact my oral-facial pain - severely cold weather and heavy pollen. I also want to reply to your inquiry about vibrations from talking - I've had this since the time of my nerve injury nine years ago, and people don't tend to believe me when I try to explain why I can't carry on a conversation with them for more than a couple words! I want to talk, but I find myself weighing the pain I'll feel for doing it versus the benefit I'll derive from speaking a few sentences. I believe the term to describe it is paresthesia... essentially, the vibration created by talking is interpreted as pain by the cortex. It makes my job a daily nightmare and difficult to maintain social relationships that require talking. I just want you to know you're not alone in what you're experiencing.

suffering from TN for 15 years. I had Gamma knife in 2009 and only lasted 3 1/2 to 4 years.. at least 3 MRI's and 1 CT scan ..I been to at least 2 neurologist and 3 neurosurgeons...Only 1 neurosurgeon said flat out "You need MVD" Very body else wants me to do another Gamma knife. I am sick of being sick with drugs that either never worked of after awhile stopped working. Due to my age 59 this would be my last chance to to MVD by 60....My choice another Gamma or MVD. I am choosing MVD June 14th..any body out there had MVD surgery???

Alienscame I appreciate your empathy and positive look into the future. I'm happy you were diagnosed quickly and you have a great doctor with skilled hands. I wish you the best in the future and carry on many many conversations. :) Scream from the mountain tops!

Pulzeye, It's nice to know I haven't gone crazy and someone else has the same symptoms while talking. Although I wish no one had to suffer, at least I've been put to ease. The seasonal changes are also another problem that we must tolerate. Pretty though, I'm still glad I get to see the seasons change.

Sick of Tn, I know quite a few people on this message board have also had Gamma Knife and then had MVD. I agree with the medications, some days my light goes out of my eyes and I'm just here physically. I wish you the best in your upcoming surgery. Keep us posted on your outcome. All the information we can get betters us all.

You are brave to go out and try to "live." I do not know an area where one could live and not experience weather that would keep from having pain. My husband has given up going out and being with friends or family. My husband has difficulty with conversations and eating. It is the movement of the jaw that brings on the pain. TN sucks! The world continues on, the people think......Oh, go take an aspirin or tylenol. You tell them, it doesn't work like that and then they just think you are "crazy!" They do not know how bad the pain is. They really don't care either. They only think a pill should take care of it. I am only the wife but I know my husband suffers through the changes. I see it and know it. I defend him to the people who say..." Why don't he go get a job?" or "Why is he faking?" You know stuff that makes one angry, because you know it causes pain to him hearing these comments and causes me pain because I can't stop it. All I can say, is.....I know you are stating and questioning it all. You are not going crazy as you might feel. You are newly experiencing this and if I get back on her later, and you mention some else that most think " That is crazy!" I will know you are not...........
