I am also in the shingles group and stumbled on this. I have the t. neuralgia in Cranium Nerve V from herpes zoster--I will spare the details.
I am trying to avoid the sympathetic nerve bloc procedure, although I understand that it is safe but nto 100% effective.
I am on the med. 2400 Neurotin...then 60 mg. of Cymbalta. Now I am trying 200 mg of tegretol. From what I just learned --this might help.
I am in such agony as I am sure we are all in. Has the Tegretol hepled relive the pain for any of you. Thank so much for your support.

I misdiagnosed myself! Because I started reading Neurology textbooks! I only have phn Not Tn.
ANyway. Thanks for tegretol info. I am 200 mg per day. The psychiatrist added it. Two docs approved. The main neurologist got pushed out of shape because I did not consult him first. Yeah, because he did or his staff return my call The dude has ego problems. He is on retainer because he is 5 minutes from me. I took the tegretol
test and will see psych on Monday. I am feeling better. Oh what I would not do for a. HAIRCUT!
Hospitalized for 8 days since April 23. They were on the money and Iam very grateful to them for taking good care of me AND not letting me go blind hence 8 days in the hospital. I am almost at my 4 month mark. Today, I am in agony because I washed my hair on Friday. Those t n nerves are mad as hell! I have a special treat for myself now if you can think of Walt Whitman ad his Leaves you will the get. Drift.. Hee Haw!
