Trigeminal Neuralgia Support Group
Trigeminal neuralgia, or Tic Douloureux, is a neuropathic disorder of the trigeminal nerve that causes episodes of intense pain in the eyes, lips, nose, scalp, forehead, and jaw. Trigeminal neuralgia is considered by many to be among the most painful of conditions.
They're doing a nerve block on one eye this week. I really think I need surgery, but it seems like you have to jump through these hoops first.
I can't take any of the meds. I can't tolerate them. I can take Klonopin and I only take .25mg. when I do take it.
I'm glad it all worked out for you.
One thing I didn't mention is that most doctors have no idea how to come off either gabap or klono. Withdrawals are considered the worst, Even worse than H. They will try to taper you in weeks. It needs to be years. So many of us have to take them, I just want you to be informed.
However in your case because you only take it occasionally, Be careful. If you should ever start feeling withdrawals, dizziness, fatigue increase i anxiety or insomnia, there are more symptoms. Then you need to be concerned. Even those who take it once in a while can become dependent on benzos and believe me. It is horrendous and dangerous when you have to come off of them.
If anyone ever has to come off of benzos or psychiatric meds in general read the Ashton manual. Link below.
To everybody. If you have taken a benzodiazepin* every day for over four weeks you are dependent. . DO NOT EVER JUST STOP THEM. You can have seizures and even die. It can put you into horrible withdrawals for years and can cause permanent damage if you stop them or have too fast a taper. Don't believe your doctor when they say it will take weeks or a couple of months. They have a couple hours of lectures on benzos and know practically nothing. Do your own research. Go to the Bezodiazepine Information Coalition website.
Here's the Ashton manual. The bible for coming off benzos and other meds like antidepressants and gabpentin.
