Is there anyone out there like me where my MRI shows significant trigemenial nueralgia vein or artery compression, but symptoms sound like atypical. I'm down because neurosurgeons label me type 2 with the fact of compression on my nerve, so I have had 3 neurosurgeons 2 against surgery one the famous dr. Brown who said yes to surgery. I'm confused I can't seem to move forward trying more meds. If my case was clear cut I would feel more confident about what to do.

Hi Kathryn , I was curious to see if you moved forward with the surgery? Like you I was told by many doctors my scans were normal. I recently traveled to Dr Brown and he said with my age (I'm 27) that he felt comfortable doing the surgery MVD that is. So I have it scheduled in a few wks. Most of my symptoms started in the first branch, then after a sinus/septoplasty surgery my symptoms involved more branches and has been more frequent. Some of my
Pain is atypical (burning/then a little area of a dull ache type feeling right along the nerve line of the 2ns branch into my
Cheek). He says I have about a 75% chance of full pain relief. I hope you're well. My meds aren't providing me enough relief so I've chosen the surgery route.

I forgot to mention - Dr brown found a large area compressing my left side TN (my symptoms have always been worse on the left side from the start). He also found the right side was compressed (smaller) and my right side does do better with the tegretol than my left.
