Trigeminal neuralgia, or Tic Douloureux, is a neuropathic disorder of the trigeminal nerve that causes episodes of intense pain in the eyes, lips, nose, scalp, forehead, and jaw. Trigeminal neuralgia is considered by many to be among the most painful of conditions.

My neuro thinks I have a mild case of TN. I've had those sharp shooting pains thru my temples, under eyes, cheeks etc for years. Seems to come with my MS. It's not the "I wish I could die" type of pains and they are short-lived and sporadic.

But those pains in the temple and head are scary. I recently went thru a round of terrible teeth and mouth pain. I figured it was my periodontal disease again. Then, all of a sudden, it stopped. What the heck?

Does anyone else have a "mild" case of TN?

I've read other posts that people that have MS also have TN. I do not have MS but my TN is not mild... I hope that your pain remains mild. :)

I have MS - TN was my first symptom - and remains almost my only significant symptom. My TN symptoms come and go, but when they
are acting up, not mild at all. Hope yours stay that way,

My sister has had MS for 42 years and TN for 16 years. We really need to find a skilled TN neurosurgeon in Louisville, KY for the best TN procedure since now her 3 meds are allowing a lot of break through pain. The jolting pain is excruciating and as a caregiver you feel so helpless. This is overwhelming!

I have MS and for the past 5 years also TN, coincidently when my Epilepsy medication was changed to include Tegretol the TN pain stopped? My Neurologist said Tegretol is often used for TN. Worked for me. :-)

I was diagnosed with TN in 2000 and then diagnosed with MS in 2008. I take Tegretol to manage the TN. My neuro said it was common to have both TN and MS.
