Trigeminal Neuralgia Support Group
Trigeminal neuralgia, or Tic Douloureux, is a neuropathic disorder of the trigeminal nerve that causes episodes of intense pain in the eyes, lips, nose, scalp, forehead, and jaw. Trigeminal neuralgia is considered by many to be among the most painful of conditions.
Last night at about 11:30pm one of the hardest pain episodes I've had since I was diagnosed nearly 4 years ago.
At about 10am I just could not stand it anymore and I had to get my mom to take me to the ER. While there they gave me Valium and a shot for pain and sent me home with prescriptions for Naproxen, five Valium and Percocets,
I was having the facial spasms too.
Needless to say by the time I got home and the shot and Valiums started kicking in I felt like I had been in a fight...I was just exhausted.
I woke up at about 7pm and the pain was starting again.......
I went 5 months basically pain free....I guess that remission is over.

My Neurologist informed me after a while the medications may not work and he would have to change them to another combination... Because I have ATN.. opiods won't work for my pain... Everyone is different and the combinations work for different cases.... I hope you're feeling better... I know how scary it is to have it flare up and have to end up at the ER.. You are not alone... Sorry this happened to you. :(
