Trigeminal Neuralgia Support Group
Trigeminal neuralgia, or Tic Douloureux, is a neuropathic disorder of the trigeminal nerve that causes episodes of intense pain in the eyes, lips, nose, scalp, forehead, and jaw. Trigeminal neuralgia is considered by many to be among the most painful of conditions.
I have atypical TN from a car accident in 2006 and had the GK in 2008. It was the worst mistake I ever did in my life. I was/am in horrible pain daily. I was so desperate for something to work as the meds just don't seem to help. The GK made things so much worse, now I have Anesthesia Dolorosa which is a numbness (a very painful numbness, with intense burning) a side effect of the GK. And the GK didn't help with ATN at all. I suggest that you read up on everything about the GK before you do anything. Maybe even get another Neuro's opinion. Because I went to a different neurologist after the GK and he said it's been proven that GK does not help ATN. Good luck, please be careful !! Each person is different, but to me it is not worth the risk! If I can save one person from that pain I live with everyday, it would be something that would make my pain a little less. God Bless..... Please do your research!!! Hugs I hope you find something that works for you.
s!
