With long standing trich & pick, I've been long spells with no eyelashes and virtually no eyebrows. They are 80% back now but the brows are really thin and seeing thin patches (i.e. lack of symmetry) in a mirrow/shiny thing actually triggers me to pull. So I find DISGUISING DAMAGE helpful. but pencilling every day = more time in from of mirror = more damage opportunity (BAD BAD BAD). So I want longer term disguise.
I've looked at:
- Eyebrow tattoos (some Asians call this embroidering) which can be solid colour, 'powder' effect, or fine hair like lines. But this is VERY expensive to get done by someone reputable, you run the risk of the person getting it wrong, and in many cases you are stuck with it i.e. when you age and your face sags or if your hair changes colour but your brows are still stained, and letting it 'fade'/semi-permanent ones can leave blue/green/orange smudges.
- Long lasting GOSH (non animal tested) eyebrow 'pens' are pretty good but I find these aren't long-lasting enough and do wash off/bleed in the shower. I would say they last 3 days tops.
- I've used water-based fine gauge illustration pens to draw on hairs in the gaps. This worked surprisingly good BUT this ISN'T meant for your face so I stopped doing it (God knows what chemicals I was absorbing)
- Delia brow 'henna' from poland etc. I've seen this work really well on youtube for 'beauty' reasons (not trich) but I got mine in the post and tried it yesterday and it was pretty rubbish... it just didn't work even though I put it on for ages twice. It is supposed to dye the hair and leave slight colouring on the skin to make your brows look even. However, the 'activator' bottle was open in my box (ebay dodgeyess) so that might be why. Will try again if seller sends replacement.
- I was so dissappointed with my Delia product that I had a rummage in my bathroom and found *lightbulb* Superdrug's own brand (non animal tested) wash in wash out little bottle of hair dye. http://www.superdrug.com/Superdrug/Superdrug-Colour-Effects-Rich-Warm-Brown-4:0/p/400912#.VgfLD_lViko
So I tried that and it worked a bit better than Delia, darkening the hairs I have (so brows looked fuller) and leaving a little bit of stain on the skin in the patchy parts. I had the wrong colour though (rich red brows) so need to get a darker, colder brown myself. However again, THIS IS NOT WHAT THIS PRODUCT IS DESIGNED FOR so I am taking a risk (so if anyone tries this remember it is at your own risk and I will not be held responsible if you don't like it or it is itchy or anything).
Anyway, anyone else have any ideas?

I'd NEVER consider a tattoo, because your face changes as you age. If you feel that you must do something, I'd use the pencil. from a distance, so that you are only looking at the eyebrow as a whole. I'm really trying not to look at them... although I'm sure that sounds odd.
My experience has been that eyebrows grow back well, although it can take awhile. So, in a few weeks we should be in great shape!
Has anyone tried mirror alternatives? I've had some success using my new phone's front facing low quality camera which for some reason doesn't set me off like a mirror, but is still good enough if you need so put concealer on a spot or things like that. x
