I haven't been on here in quite a while. I kinda forgot about this website, to be honest. But I have an odd 'need' to share what has gone on since I was last here...
I moved to New York in July of 2012 because my grandma became very ill. I ended up starting freshman year in a school where I knew no one. On September 23rd, my grandmother passed away. I eventually made friends and my hair pulling worsened. I then began talking to a teacher, Mrs. Snyder, who I became very fond of. I skipped lunch a lot to go into her classroom and just chat. It was her free period so it worked out well. Towards the end of my freshman year, I began cutting. It was May 15th. So I was now battling two addictions--hair pulling and cutting. On June 25th, my birthday, my grandfather suddenly died of cardiac arrest at about 9:30 at night. I cried for two hours after that. I also lost my best friend Sam from New Jersey around that time. Not to death or anything, but because she just stopped talking to me. Anyway, I started sophomore year and I began talking to that teacher again. I never told her about my cutting because I didn't want my mom to find out. I began seeing a therapist for my hair. I never told her about the cutting either. On October 16th, a month and a day since I started, my mom found out about my cutting. She saw them on my stomach. To my surprise, she wasn't pissed or anything, just sad. About two weeks later, I went to a doctor's office so I could be prescribed some medication. I was officially diagnosed with GAD (generalized anxiety disorder), OCD (obsessive-compulsive), and dysthymia (a.k.a. persistent depressive disorder). I was put on Fluoxetine (generic Prozac) and it's too soon to tell if it works. And.....here we are. If you read this, thanks. If not, well, it doesn't matter what I say because you're not reading it anyway :).

Sorry you are going through a rough patch right now, I know you are a strong person from all your beautiful writing that you do. Set backs are a part of our life, but its how we handle the set backs that matter. If we focus on taking the best care of ourselves and find time to relax and nurture our sensitive bodies I know we would have a fighting chance as well as more pull-free episodes.
Its wise to keep in contact with this support group and to keep writing your poems and thoughts this is a wonderful stress reducer.
