Hello, I would to keep my name anonymous, but I’m happy I found this group :)
I am a 15 year old girl, 16 next month and I was diagnosed with Trichotillomania around the age of six years old. Trichotillomania has been a massive part of my life and due to it, I’ve suffered from a lot of anxiety and depression that tend to come in waves every now and again, I also have massive self esteem issues.
I would say that over half of my head is very short hair and it is very very, in fact almost impossible, to hide. It’s a huge problem in secondary school because it’s often pointed out that ‘I have a bald spot’ in a particular areas, which is possibly one of the worst things you could tell someone with Trich (although I don’t blame them because I’ve never told anyone besides my family about my problem).
Because I’ve had it for so long, I cannot remember how it started, but right now, it’s out of habit. And I would say I pull hundreds of hairs a day.
After almost ten long years, I am trying my absolute hardest to recover from Trichotillomania.
I don't pull my head hair for some reason. Only my eyelashes. I'm 22 year old female (23 in July) and I've been pulling since I was 9. So going on 14 years! :/ its discouraging sometimes but it always helps having someone who can relate to what you're going through so if you ever wanna chat don't be afraid to message me privately :) hope you're having a good week!

I definitely have felt alone a lot of the time, especially as nobody I know really understands how I’m feeling.
I used to pull my eyelash hair a lot too, and I stopped for a while but I have started again. I love the thought of having long eyelashes and I’m aiming towards that. I hope you achieve long lashes too!
I thought pulling for 10 years was a lot but almost 15 years must be so hard for you.
Have you ever had counselling sessions before?
