Trichotillomania (Hair Pulling) Support Group
Impulsive control disorder is the inability to resist an urge, temptation, or impulse, even when it may cause negative effects to the self or to others. If you or a loved one suffers from impulsive contorl disorder, join the community to find support and share your challenges with others who know what you're going through.

But ok onto tips since that's what you asked for! My advice is to join the 'beating trich' group on this forum. And these are my main trich tips, the things that help me:
- Wearing bandaids on my thumbs (means it's very hard to pull)
- Visiting my pull-free-a-thon in the beating trich support group daily
- Exercising, particularly when experiencing bad urges, a walk can really lift your mood and distract you from the urge/pulling cycle
- Wetting hair if experiencing some very bad urges/can't stop pulling
- Keeping hands down (sit on your hand if you need to, or clasp them together)
- Deep breathing (if you do this for a while it really helps)
- Playing with stress balls/stringy rubber balls
Be easy on yourself. Your child will not get trichotillomania just because they see you pulling out your hair.
