first of all,i want to tell you how brave it was of you to post here about your overwhelming struggle with trich.
i have been really trying to find the right words for you,but just know that no,you are not alone.you are not crazy.
i have been struggling with trich for a long time, was at a point where i was in so much desperation and shame over it.....
i also have ocd,and dermatillomania, and have finally found a medication which, along with therapy, has helped alot with my ocd,and in turn, helped me stop pulling (although still do from time to time)......
i also,in the new year year going to be doing a group therapy program fro both my trich and skin picking, because, although they have gotten better, and my hair is the longest it has been in years,i still need help to completely stop.
all i can say is to try and pay attention to your triggers,do things which nurture yourself in positive ways, and try to focus on the many good qualities i am sure you have.
i in no way want to simpify what you are going through, trust me,i understand just how you feel....
but, again, you are in no way alone, this is not your fault, and you can overcome it.
please try not to allow this horrible condition to colour the core of who you are within.....
you have all my empathy, and again,do find pride in the fact that you have opened up about it here and are reaching out where others truly understand and care....
sending you peace and hope.....
I completely understand what you're talking about. I pull everytime I do anything, including reading a book. It's second nature. There are days when I feel crazy, alone, and like this will never end, but the important thing for you to know is that you aren't alone. You're reaching out for help, which is fantastic! It's the first step in the right direction. I am also struggling to find a way to stop. If I catch myself pulling, I can usually make myself stop, only out of guilt though. My boyfriend is the only person who knows about my pulling and when he catches me doing it, he'll help me to stop also. If there is someone who you can confide in that can help you in a similar way, I suggest doing that as well.
Best of luck :)
