After years of being able to control my plucking urges I pulled all of my lashes out (top & bottom). Words cannot express what I feel. Somebody please give me some encouragement...PLEASE

You have gone years being able to control your plucking urges....thats encouraging for many sufferers. I think many individuals on here would be grateful if they were able to resist for such a long time! Mishaps happen...dont berate yourself for messing up once in a long time. Have you determined the stressor which caused you to react in such a way? I feel that you are wayy too hard on yourself. I would be overjoyed if I went years without giving in to my urges. I think that is already huge progress and one which you need to focus on and be proud of.

Thank you! I am quite hard in myself. The stressors are extreme disappointment, anger, boredom, and anxiety. I'm 47. Started pulling around 2nd grade and continued through my sophomore year of college. I was unaware of the condition and thought I was the only person who had this problem. There's comfort in knowing I am not alone and that it is a real condition.

How were you able to go without picking for such a long time? Are there any strategies that you follow or do you surround yourself with a support network of understanding people? Was there a particular life change that occurred in college which prompted you to stop the habit? Im very interested in the progress which you have achieved.

Sometimes it happens. You have to try not to be so hard on yourself. Today is a new day and will start again with being able to resist. Your lids will feel better in a few days and new growth will begin!

@getbacktoserenity-The number one strategy that I used was to keep my hands out of my face. I would play with stress balls mostly or would fidgit or sketch on anything.

My trich episodes mercilessly prey on my precious lashes. For quite some time I've been able to live episode free as well; however, out of nowhere one snuck up on me like a thief in the night and robbed me of all the lashes on the upper lid of my right eye.......cue the guilt, shame, and instaneous regret. =( Just wanted you to know that you are not alone in this battle! Tomorrow's a new day and a fresh start for both us! *HUG*
