Any advice of what to wear to an interview? Hats?

I'm a college and am so far going for an education major, and now I need a job for the higher level books and things. I've done volunteering and internships, but they were with teachers and staff I know very well, and who understand why I need my hats. ( The kids don't care luckily, and think my collection of fancy baseball caps are cool.)

Now I'd like to get a real job possibly/hopefully at a child care facility, but i'm not sure what is acceptable for an interview? I'm not even sure outfit wise, but I know that hats are unusual, and bandannas are taboo.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated! or even just stories of your own experiences.

I'll try this out at my internship and ask my teacher friends what they think.

The best advice that I can give as a puller for 38 out of my 44 years...don't sweat it! I remember once hearing about "minimizing the disorder" -don't apologize for it, don't explain it...just be. If you are comfortable in a scarf, I say wear one that makes you feel really nice and go with it. If asked about it (which would I'm not sure be legal), you could say that it is nothing to worry about and that it won't impact your ability to do the job. Wear a SMILE...try to just relax and know that we are all battling this together...I know it is not easy...but no explanation is needed...hold your head high and get that job! :)

Thank you, That's great advice. I feel a little better hearing that. I'll try to exude confidence and hope that it doesn't come up, and if it does I'll borrow a few of your word if you don't mind.

Depending on the severity of damage, wide headbands or headbands with large embellishments work well to hide certain areas. If the rest of your outfit is very minimal, maybe you could get away with more "interesting" hats or scarves over your hair. A product like Toppik might help, too. Best of luck with the interview! Teaching is a great job when dealing with trich - little kids are so accepting and nonjudgemental.

Hi there, I know I'm a little late to the discussion, but I just wanted to see if you had ever considered getting extensions or a hair piece of any sort? Depending on the severity of your TTM, its worth a shot. I have used them and it helps keep confidence.
