Transgender Support Group
This community is here to support and help the large population of transgender people. If you or anyone you know identify as transgender, this is the place to share your feelings and experiences and speak with others who are going through similar things in their lives.

I am and inch or shorter than you so be of good courage. I was also well endowed and had earlry puberty, so have had some tough days to get through as you are. I am 62 and 4'11 and shrinking, but with testosterone and a binder and a beard transplant to give clear cues, no one blinks before calling me "sir." I am of an age where I can enhance that with clothing and gestures (opening doors for men and women especially of my age or older and paying attention to showing respect to everyone I am in contact with). I had a really short dad and a really tall mother, so that was pretty good modeling to know that it is a piece of the picture but not the most important one.
The comment I get most, sometimes overheard and sometimes to my face, is that I am a bit dapper---i guess a bit of a sharply dressed little guy from another era. What goes with that, "Sir" just feels good with the 58 years of dysphoria that came before it. My primary goal is to see myself in the mirror rather than than the woman I had to try to be privately and professionally for all those years, but it is very comforting to have others see me as the gender I experience for myself. I know it must be agonizing for many folks to feel blocked in being able to effectively present as themselves. Passing even in our trans community has a bit of an edge on it because it is more important to be yourself than act out stereotypes of our affirmed genders, but at the same time I believe it takes a lot of experimenting to know what is essentially you in all your wonderful uniqueness and what is drag in its worst connotations.
Six percent of the world is our height or shorter, so there are good resources to find clothing and other resources as needed, but mostly it isn't going to be an issue as people get the chance to know us. My dad did a lot of kissing from the stairs, and I like the precedent!
Hang in there.
Liam
