Has anyone been successful in staying in their marriage with their transgender spouse and if so, do you have any suggestions on how to handle the bumpy round during the transition? My spouse is a MTF and I want to stay with her. We are very much in love and have two children together. Some days everything is fine and other days we are both falling apart. I know it's hard to stay together after something like this happens so I would appreciate any positive stories if you have them.

Hello, I am mtf and have been transitioning for one year on estrogen. My wife and i will celebrate sixteen years this December. The first fourteen years she would agree were hell. Could not get along. She knew before we married and it was always a touchy subject, very hot button. Finally after a particularly heated argument I decided to start transitioning and taking hormones, since then ( last April) we have been inseparable seriously happier than ever. It's different though, no sex. Just best friends. BESTFRIENDS

Ugh, that's what I'm afraid of. I want to remain in a full relationship with her that includes sex. We already are best friends to but I'm not sure if I will be comfortable with only being friends.

My wife is MTF and we have one young child. The day to day gets easier for sure. We have told all our friends, family and work. She is so much happier now that she is transitioning and on estrogen. We still have bumpy days (like any marriage I suppose) but on the whole it is easier. I want to stay together because I love her and we get along so well. My advice is to give yourself a lot of love because this isn't an easy thing to deal with!

Thank you ChiMum. And are you still in a full romantic marriage that includes intimacy? Or is it more like a friendship marriage with no intimacy. I'm so afraid that's going to happen to us as she starts taking hormones and her body changes.
