I am mtf and I am married to a woman. My question is has anyone had to experience transitioning while still married. She was distant at first and at times I thought she was going to leave me. Then slowly things got better. So much better that she has helped me with makeup and going shopping for clothes with me so I don't feel awkward. We paint our nails together. Everything seems to be going great. But she still has a sadness about her. And one of the things is that she says she feel inferior. She says that I seem to be more feminine than her and that she is starting to feel like the male. I'm trying to understand and comfort her as much as I can but really don't know what to say. I'm trying as hard as can with makeup and fashion so that I don't get outed ,so that I pass as a woman. If my wife goes out with little to no makeup,then nobody says anything. If I go out it could be dangerous if I don't pass. Especially living in the south. I've probably said to much. What do I do?
I don't know you or your wife's sexual preference so I'm not sure if you are still attracted to her or not so this might not even be relevant, but I can tell you what would have helped me when I was feeling like this. Make her feel beautiful. Make her feel desired. Don't try and one-up her when it comes to clothing, make-up etc. And definitely don't make any comments or give any criticism (constructive or otherwise) to her appearance or her own femininity. She needs to be remind that she is still a beautiful woman even though she is now sharing the womanly role in the marriage with you.
