Transgender Support Group
This community is here to support and help the large population of transgender people. If you or anyone you know identify as transgender, this is the place to share your feelings and experiences and speak with others who are going through similar things in their lives.
As I had explained in another recent post, I transitioned when I was 30 because it was not available at the time
The ftm support group that existed was full of incredibly unsupportive guys but no matter, I only had my therapist yet at the time he was not all that helpful either, I spent the first 5 years of my transition alone with my animals. Yet, I am here 30 years later better than ever.
I then I had the presence of mind to read books by Louise Hay and Wayne Dyer that showed me that loving and accepting yourself can make a huge difference in one's life and the irony was that once I started to like myself and love myself, I ended up finding an even better therapist.
Not only that but I now have good friends who love me for me and with whom I can be myself. As for finding someone to share my life with, it is not something I want because frankly, everyone I find cannot do healthy relationships so since I enjoy my own company, I am okay with that.
However, as you feel better about yourself, you will attract better people in your life. Lastly, harming yourself is never an option, it just makes the pain worse. Not to mention that it does not address the problem or solve it whatsoever. The key here is to learn to love and accept yourself exactly as you are right now. If you cannot love yourself, you cannot expect anyone else to do so, love is who you are and it comes from within you, nowhere else.
I am here if you need further help. There is a better life ahead of you but you have to work on yourself to make it happen. Before I go, if you do not have a therapist, I suggest you find one, it will be very useful to you as you progress further in your transition.
Hope this helps,
Wolf (FTM since 1987)
