Hi everyone. I'm...Rachel. Still getting used to calling myself that name. I am just now taking the first steps of my transition, beginning with setting up counseling appointments. I am so anxious to finally feel comfortable in my body, but I'm going to do this right by starting with talking to a professional and getting her referral. I'm so very anxious and nervous and excited all in one. This has been a long time coming. Thanks for this support. I know that I will need it.

Hi, Rachel,
I know what you mean about the name. In my mind, I've been Robin for as long as I can remember, but I've only been referring to myself as Robin openly for a short while. The last time I truly felt comfortable in my own body, or even really liked the way I looked, I was in my early teens standing in front of a mirror wearing my sister's dress. Of course, the bra was stuffed with balled up toilet paper... (Wish they were real.) I am also anxious and nervous about beginning this journey I wish I had started a long time ago. I would be happy to support you in any way I can. However, based on my life experience, I'll probably be the poster child for what not to do. Maybe that's how I'll be able to help others, so they can learn from my mistakes.

I wish you luck on the therapy, it is a big step and a scary one make no mistake, but it will get easier as time goes. One word of advice is DO NOT RUSH. If you feel overwhelmed then you need to slow down. The absolute fastest you can do things is 1 year, but you have as long as you need to do it. I am at year 8 now. Its not a race and the easier you slide into it the better and easier the transition will be. Set a rock in a pond slowly the fish don't scatter and the surface stays calm, throw it in and the water reacts violently and everything goes chaotic. Same with this.
