hi im a 43 yr old male whos just realised im not happy as a male and am taking my first steps by informing my gp this week that i want to become female as ive known for a few yrs and the feelings are so strong now all i want is to know people like me and get to know who i want to be,,ive told my wife who i loved for many yrs as me and of course it was a great shock to her we are now getting divorced and i have 3 children to whom i will tell once i know more of and where i start,if i dont start this journey now i will never know,any links,support you know of will be greatly appreciated.this is my first step into transition and its foggy and dark but i hope with your help i can continue.

Welcome to DS. The first step I would advise to make an appointment to see a gender therapist, someone who specialize in gender related questions. A gender therapist can also help you dealing with marriage, coming out to your children, family members, employment. I agree with Rhonda10 the best place to start is with a gender specialist counselor or therapist and you can google gender therapist that work in your are or that are closest to you. Good luck :-)

Ive started by finding myself a suitably trained therapist so there must be something in it lol

Plz plz plz tho dont suffer in silence, reach out to those who care here and in your world so they suffering doesnt last long and happiness soon begins x

im working on it im in australia but there is just as much support out there for me here as anywhere else,just got to take it one step at a time ty sami for the video link it has made me feel a little stronger within myselfx
