Well for starters you can be whatever you feel like being. Also you don’t have to be an adult to come out, you just need to be an adult to get reassignment surgery... Also girl I am in your situation. I can see you have already taken the first step which is to find support! Cool girl! Also I CAN HELP!! If you need to know somethin’ tell me. I don’t know how to tell parents because I am not on that step. I am 14 and have come out to in person only. So if ya need help just come here and rant I guess... Sorry for not being so helpful.. transition is more about mental than physical issues. There are like one or 2 areas that surgically get altered, but you can have all the surgery and medications you want and still go look in the mirror and see an X in a Y body. Until you come to terms with what you are and who you are and know it through and through, you are going to have this form of issue and no amount of medical treatment will fix that. you need to change your frame of mind. Women wear mens clothes all the time, have short hair, refuse to wear makeup, you name it.... so why are you looking in the mirror and not seeing that you are a girl? Sure theres one area of the body that needs to be dealt with medically but are you using that right now... no. So be a girl, simple as that. Is it hard, yes, but the entire process is hard and a constant battle. Hence why it is worth it when you get to the end. So if you cant do anything till you are an adult as you claim.... come to terms with you because you need nothing but you for that.

Well and us, we are living too. One question with telling your parents you have to ask. How do you deep down think they will react. I ask that because our minds have this wonderful way of spinning things way out of context and making them a million times worse than we truly know in our hearts they will go. So is your fear a result of your mind messing with you, or is it your heart knowing that they will not take it well. From there, write a letter they will see while you are at school, send an email, text message, whatever. you can use current events as a lead in for it, you can just come out with it or what not. There are a good many options on HOW to tell them, its a matter of when.

The first and biggest bit of advice I can give is to find out how your parents feel about transgender issues and people. Bring it up, like something in the news or something subtle. See how they react. It can be very dangerous to come out to unsupportive parents. You need to test the waters first and without risking yourself. If you don't think they're supportive, you might need to keep it a secret from them until you're in a safe place and have a job and your own place to fall back on. I've seen too many young people come out only to be thrown to the curb.
