My boyfriend and I have talked about him having thoughts and feelings about him becoming a female. I know he would be happier being a female. Problem is we live in a small community and he is worried nobody would understand and what he does for a living would be an issue too. I tell him all the time I will love him if he chooses to follow these feelings he has had for quit some many years. I would love him no matter what and be by his side throughout it all. I know he doesn't believe me. Any advice on how to get him to be happier with himself. He's terrified about how his adult son would react to this change as well.

Just keep supporting her. It's very Searcy for some. But most people that care about her. Will support her. If they see that she is happy.

Assuming the son doesnt live with you. let him dress and be him at home for now. help him with age appropriate clothing, learning makeup and all that. He can find a therapist to get the diagnosis and all which will have him on the path to hormones if he ever wants them and all. In the end he will have to get over his doubt in himself. I knew one person who was here who had a contracting company in a small community in the bible belt south and they transitioned. They expected their business to tank, and i think they said it went down a small amount but came back stronger than ever. People are going to worry about the work and your ability more than anything else. I work in IT which is almost exclusively male dominated, I transitioned in place and surprisingly enough the people i work with have been really great about it. he might be surprised how those coworkers react. As for his son... he raised him. If he raised his son to be open minded then his son will be okay with it. It will be based on how he raised his kid. Does he accept the person or not. Hopefully this helps.

Thank you both. We don't refer to him as a her just quite yet. Tried it once didn't feel right to him so I won't push the technical terms. I have suggested the dressing at home guess he isn't ready for that either. He was raised very religious and he still punishes himself for how he feels. His son is not that open minded also. I just hope my baby gets what he wants out of how he is feeling.
