Hi my name is Alex at least thats what I would prefer to be called. I was born a female but I am actually a male. I am new to this cite. I have yet to come out to my parents and am slightly scared. I have know I was male for as long as I can remember but as far as they are concerned I have always been their little girl.. Please does anyone have any advice for coming out as trans?

I am FtM I have come out to a very select group of people. You have to just bite the bullet. Go in understanding that their reaction is out of your control. You can only control how you react to them reacting. Give them time to process your information and their feelings. Before you come out to them make sure you have a safe place to go just in case the worst happens. Take a deep breath. Remember you are valid. You are perfect the way you are. You are loved. You have friends. Then tell them when you are ready.

I am in the same boat as you, born female but actually male. I am at the same cross roads as you. I at least have the belief that if i tell my dad, he will be supportive and tell me he just wants me to be happy. My mother however, her reaction is not one I can be sure of the outcome. As Adrian stated, you cannot control their reaction. It is a hard concept for most parents, or anyone for that matter, to understand especially when most peoples views are black and white, with no room for grey. I would recommend rehearsing what you want to say to them, maybe even write it down to help you. When you gather your strength to bite the bullet, sit them down, tell them you need to talk to them about something. Ask them to hold any questions or comments until you are done talking and simply explain to them how you feel, be sure to state that this is how you really feel and that it's not just a phase. Do be sure to have a safe haven that you can retreat to if for any reasons things at home become less than safe.

Just set a date to do it, and promise that on that date u will do it. Do not stutter just say it. That's what I did, maybe tell a close friend before ur family. Also stop caring what people think.
