Transgender Support Group
This community is here to support and help the large population of transgender people. If you or anyone you know identify as transgender, this is the place to share your feelings and experiences and speak with others who are going through similar things in their lives.
Transgender is not something that is understood by society ´(including reatives) most of the time. I found that they don´t mean to be disrespectful or hurting at all when they don´t use your name+pronouns, they just don´t understand the problem. When somebody getts shot everybody understands that they are in pain because they have either experienced the pain of being shot before or they have seen somebody being shot and therefore being in pain or they have been told that being shot is painful. When somebody is suffering from (gender)disphoria you can´t always see them suffer. Most People have neither experienced strong dysphoria themselves nor have they ever been told what it feels like or that it is existent. Therefore it is important to tell them that what you feel is normal and that there are more people out there feel that way. That it is way more painful than they would imagine.
And you are NOT to old to be yourself, you can never be. Many people (not just trans people) take way longer to give up pretending they would be something they´re not. Who does really know who they are at 25? The average person changes chareers and long term partners several times in their lives, so don´t worry, you´ve got time, it´s normal to not know exactly who you are at your age.
Also is there a way for you to go to a gender therapist, they may be able to help you figure yourself out? And what about people outside your family, did you talk to them? They might be more understanding and helpful.
Hope I could help and a Happy New Year!
