No matter how much I shave, there's always this slightest shadow of hair on my upper lip and I despise it. I hate that I can't ever get rid of it. What am I doing wrong? Does it just not come off?

If you wax the hairs they should go away for longer. They will grow back, but not as fast. They will also be less visible then.

While waxing works fine for finer hair, if you have been shaving for quite some time your hair is probably courser. Waxing isn't as effective on course hair and can be very painful sometimes even damaging the skin.

The hair on my upper lip is my biggest trouble spot too. I have resorted to having to cover it with makeup. I use an orange color corrector in combination with a heavier powder in that area.

If you are looking for a more permanent solution, laser electrolysis is really the only option. But it can be quite expensive.

Here here. Electrolysis is always your best bet. Just don't do the old needle one. That hurts like heck! OUCH

i too have a problem with the 5 o clock shade on my face and i cant get into laser treatments' yet but as long as you try to save as good as you can don't worry about it i know that's hard to do as i always get that person telling me i mist some of the shadow

so you have a few options as mentioned here. you can wax it, it will go away for a few days longer and likely wont start out as thick when it does come back. you can do electrolysis which has 2 types, one being laser which is not permanent nor complete. it lightens it significantly though. It requires you to not shave for several days after each session though. Traditional uses a probe inserted into the follicle and then the hair is ripped out. This is both permanent and complete but is a huge time investment and spendy. There is also the makeup option. often times the application of a concealer will help significantly. Check youtube, there is a good number of videos on how to cover up the shadow and may provide you some good ideas on how to do it with makeup. Out side of that you can change your razor type. If you are using your standard razor like the bladed head kind, they can make it more pronounced than an electric razor would. The reason is it cuts straight across the hair meaning that there is a very flat service for the light to reflect from, where as most electrics cut an angle which offsets the reflection of light. So if you are using a blade, spend the money on a good electric and see if that helps. if you are already using an electric then make sure the blades are good and sharp always.
